Constructed in 1926, the theater was designed in a Moorish Revival style. In 1974, the theater was divided in half with a cinder-block wall and painted plaster board suspended from the ceiling, covering the plaster dome. ln 1988, they removed the wall that divided the auditorium and carefully restored the theater's elaborate interior. It was designated a San Francisco Landmark on February 21, 1996. The building is currently occupied by a Crunch Fitness.
