Dar al-Niaba
Tanger, Morocco

The entrance to the building is said to date back to the Portuguese era.1  It was the French Legation between 1820 and 1860, and subsequently as the headquarters of the Naib, or Sultan's delegate during the international period. It reverted to municipal offices after independence. In recent decades the building decayed substantially, and preservation is now a concern.2
