Bayangan House
Semarang Kota, Indonesia

This three-bedroom house has been designed as if it were a semi-open space under a tree instead of a typical enclosed four-walled building. The façade has been composed of pieces of bamboo, giving an interesting shadow effect into the house. Natural elements are crucial: cross ventilation, sunlight used for natural lighting, and rain, as on a large leafy tree where it can slip through the foliage, falling on the edges of the multifunctional space at the entrance to be collected by a drain. Inner gardens allow the rhythms of nature to inhabit the house, where unfinished and recycled materials are used as a means to significantly reduce energy consumption.
