NYU Abu Dhabi is a co-educational, liberal arts university that promotes education and advanced research, global diversity, appreciation of Islamic history and culture, and the long-term social development of Abu Dhabi. The campus design, based on a pedestrian-oriented street network, draws from the area’s past while responding to modern programmatic requirements and technologies. The design prioritises a mixed-use urban fabric over monumental individual buildings. The split-level campus, designed for 2,600 students and comprising 29 buildings, provides public and academic spaces on the ground level while the landscaped High Line level houses faculty and students in residential buildings. The campus offers public access and creates a connection to future urban development.
