<div>Occupied since 2010, the LIFT House is a two-storey residential building containing two bamboo amphibious dwelling units separated by but attached to a static service spine, built in reinforced concrete and brick, which provides vertical guidance and stability during floods. The kitchens, bathroom, composting toilet system, solar panels and two types of water cisterns for rainwater harvesting are located here. The bamboo houses float up during floods as they have either a foundation of hollow ferro-cement or one involving a bamboo frame packed with empty used plastic water bottles. It is a low-cost, flood-resilient housing development.</div><div><hr></div><div>Source: Aga Khan Trust for Culture</div>
