Ibrahim El-Hibri Social Complex
Khalde, Lebanon
The campus between Beirut and Sidon was commissioned by a philanthropic organisation to provide education, training, and cultural and social amenities to orphans and children with disabilities. The complex includes an administrative building, school building, nursery, dormitory building, a common facilities building with library, auditorium, dining room and car park. The structures are built with local materials, external walls are double walls with an air cavity in the middle, and due to the comfortable conditions created by the complex’s massing strategies, shading systems and natural cross ventilation there is no air-conditioning, apart from in the auditorium and administration offices.
