The Islamic Institute of Orange County (IIOC), also known as Masjid Omar al-Farouk, is a large purpose-built Islamic center situated between a gas station and an apartment complex in largely residential neighborhood. The IIOC was built in 1991 and expanded from 2001-2005. The facility houses a prayer hall, women's prayer area, a multi-purpose hall, library, office space, and Minaret Academy Elementary School.
The mosque is housed in a large modern building, with a tan ablaq exterior, with windows and the arched entrance way surrounded by stucco. Traditional elements of Islamic architecture are incorporated, including a minaret flanking the entrance door, decorated with patterned tile, and a large copper dome over the prayer hall.
