Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California

The Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California (ICCNC) is located in the former Scottish Rite Cathedral on Madison Street in Oakland. The cathedral was built in 1908-1909 in the Mission Revival style by the firm of O'Brien & Werner, who built most of the early 20th-century Masonic temples in California. The ICCNC was founded in 1995 and purchased the building to convert it to a mosque and cultural center. In addition to prayer space, the center includes a library, a large banquet hall in the basement, and the main auditorium, which retains the cathedral's original pipe organ.
