<div>The Islamic Center of Alameda (ICA) traces its history to the mid-1990s, when a small group of local Muslims joined together to teach madrasa for the students of the Afghani Cultural Center (now the Al Quba Masjid). The madrasa moved to a private home, and then to a 300-sq. ft. office space rental in Alameda. As the student community grew, parents expressed interest in a space not just for a madrasa, but for worship and community activities as well, and the Islamic Center of Alameda was founded.
