In 1953, Michel Ecochard undertook a mission
on behalf of the United Nations to report on the question of refugees in
Karachi. This was followed by planning studies on Landhi Satellite Town, about
25 kilometres from the city centre, working within the larger Greater Karachi Resettlement
Plan of the Greek planner, Doxiadis. This report outlines the problem of
refugees in Karachi and offers solutions largely based on Ecochard’s recent
work in Morocco. A section of the report is comprised of a photographic review
of some of that work.
