Updated yearly, this ADB Country Fact Sheet provides social and economic indicators on Afghanistan as well as concise information on ADB's operations in the country and contact information.

Afghanistan is a founding member of ADB, which was established in 1966. After a hiatus from 1980 to 2001, ADB resumed partnership with the Government of Afghanistan. ADB is the sixth largest donor according to the government’s 2012 Donor Cooperation Report. ADB and its development partners support the Afghanistan National Development Strategy (ANDS) and national priority programs (NPPs), and its ambitious targets and benchmarks for measuring progress in the country’s reconstruction and development.
