The food security situation of vulnerable households in Southern Kyrgyzstan (Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken oblasts) and in the remote mountainous part of Northern Kyrgyzstan (Naryn oblast) worsened in 2010. The three-month project will aim to restore and strengthen economic access to food on the short and medium term, so as to prevent degradation of the nutrition and health status of 27,454 households, as well as protect and strengthen their livelihoods. ACTED will organize training for local authorities on the identification and preparation of temporary food storage and distribution points, and monitor locally-managed distributions.
