Military architecture has been very important in Oman, due to its strategic location. To protect the sultanate, it was necessary to build military structures on the ground and in the sea. These constructions, fortresses, towers and fences, are special and unique to the region. This article illustrates the different kinds of military structures and their various functions. It also introduces an important example of Omani fortresses, the Jabrin Castle. (Taken from English translation on page 9)
