Type

Year

A booklet containing photographs of Pop Restaurant, constructed in 1998 near Union Square in New York City. Ali Tayar designed a series of Pop restaurants for owner Roy Liebenthal including several outposts of Pop Burger, a high-end fast-food restaurant. Tayar employed modular elements, such as pre-cut wood sheets and metal panels, to construct an interior space that draws from the design cues of mid-century Modernism, resulting in a streamlined simplicity that contrasts with the existing structure's complex and weighty Romanesque and Beaux-Arts facade.
