Established to commemorate the foundation of Cairo by the Fatimid Caliphs in AD 969 AD (AH 358), the design of the Al-Azhar Park was extended into a number of urban rehabilitation initiatives and restoration of key monuments, providing training and jobs to thousands of Egyptians during more than two decades.
