Reflections at Keppel Bay
Singapore, Singapore
Addressing issues of high-density design and construction sustainability, this lushly landscaped development transforms a former shipyard into a vibrant residential and leisure community. The sleek, gracefully curving buildings are all orientated differently, for a constantly changing perspective and to take advantage of spectacular views. Six high-rise towers, arranged in pairs connected by landscaped sky bridges, sport transparent steel crowns accented with greenery. Their triple-height lobbies have glass-based water features that admit light to the underground parking level. The crystalline-shaped clubhouse and gymnasium stand over a large reflecting pool, which is crisscrossed by walkways and platforms. Completing the scheme are 11 fan-shaped villa apartment blocks featuring glazed bay windows and contrasting metal wall surfaces. The series of high-rise undulating towers is the focal point of this project. The design is composed of two distinct typologies of housing; the lower Villa blocks along the water front and the high-rise towers which overlook them set just behind. The artful composition of ever shifting building orientations, along with the differing building typologies, creates an airy, light-filled grouping of short and tall structures.

In 2008 the site received the Singapore Building and Construction Authority's Green Mark Award for the integration of features such a underground rainwater collection, filtration and recycling for landscape irrigation; the use of landscaping and sky gardens in climate control; skylights and energy efficient lighting, and other solar energy features.
