Salame Residence
Faqra, Lebanon
The landscape architecture for this home located in a remote holiday area, boldly brings the vistas and views to centre-stage. A formal, geometric, granite slab is extended toward the mountains and the sunset, to an infinity pool that captures the horizon. Horizontal and vertical elements are removed from this floating platform to reduce distractions, two sculptural oaks marking the only exceptions. The sloping terrain allows changing-rooms below, but it also creates safety issues on the site that are solved by wrapping the granite platform with water channels on each side. In contrast to the formal geometries of the front pool, a sunken garden is created to the rear of the land with soft green contours.
