Mesa Hospital
Ankara, Türkiye
Mesa Hospital is insulated from the inconveniences of its dense and busy surroundings by its layout. It looks inwards onto a landscaped central courtyard, which is bordered on one side by an aluminium-clad serpentine wall separating the outpatient department from the quiet world of the inpatient wards. Its high-tech style incorporates references to indigenous architecture. In keeping with local tradition, its lower parts are masonry, with a heavy cladding of local stone, whereas the upper floors are a light stuccoed structure with vertical windows. The load-bearing frame is of reinforced concrete.
