Ali Riza Mete Residence
Izmir, Türkiye
An old vineyard house, probably dating from the 19th century, has been restored and enlarged to provide a family home. It is hoped that the project will provide a stimulus for further conservation in a region with a surplus of similar structures in a neglected condition. The restoration work encompasses not just the main residence - a 'tower building' - but also a series of annexes, including one formerly used as an icehouse by local fishermen.
