Gedung Dua8
Jakarta, Indonesia
The centre was built to house a collection of artwork relating the history and culture of Indonesia's eastern tribes, and to function as a local community centre. The glass fiber reinforced cement used for the walls, as well as the wood, have no finishing giving the overall structure a 'primitive' look. This is in stark contrast to the building's other more 'modern' materials. In addition to the exhibition areas, the centre includes a library, an amphitheatre and a function room that is used for film projections and social gatherings.
