Cultural Pottery House
Mecca, Saudi Arabia
This model house demonstrates the potential applications in construction of a natural-based and inexpensive material: clay pottery. It deploys innovative techniques for a wide range of elements, from the domes, columns and finishes to the foundations (40 cm pottery bricks over 10 cm cement block) and walls (a base layer of brick, then open pottery forms fixed by metal fibers and wooden wedges).
