Mathaf Umm Kulthum
Cairo, Egypt
Designed in honour of Oum Kolthoum, this Turkish Palace Complex, built in 1830 and located on Manial El-Roda Island on the river Nile, has been restored and adapted into a commemorative museum. The building is L-shaped and is divided into three sections, each containing a separate exhibit. Visitors are also invited to explore the library and auditorium, where documentaries and seminars are regularly scheduled. The colour scheme is grey, black and silver with wooden showcases made of dark Bali-Sander wood.
