Sonehri Mosque
Lahore, Pakistan
The Sonehri Mosque stands in a public square, the Chowk Kashmiri Bazaar, in the Dubbi Bazaar area of the Walled City of Lahore. It was built in the 18th century by Nawab Bhikari Khan on the site of an earlier, smaller mosque. A flight of stairs rises from the square to the entrance of the small mosque, into a wedge-shaped, long courtyard with an ablution tank. The prayer hall is roofed with the three golden domes the mosque is known by. The domes are bulbous and fluted, covered in gold-covered copper. The eastern facade is flanked by two tall minars topped by similar golden domes.
