Samarkand Railway Station
Samarkand, Uzbekistan
A modern railway station for 1,400 passengers with a design based on the repetition of tapered concrete columns with Y-sections in a series of three horizontal bands. It is built mainly in concrete and stone, and was erected using local materials and employing local craftsmen.
