Ahle Hadith Mosque
Islamabad, Pakistan

The mosque was built for a community of 6,000 people on a flat and open site in a residential area of Islamabad. The design of the mosque is based on a grid of 2.75m. The form relating to this grid is a quadri-partite vault supported by four columns. This basic element was repeated to compose a building, which consists of a courtyard surrounded by a prayer hall and other communal rooms. The vaulted elements were staggered, forming a diamond shape in plan. The construction technique is reinforced concrete columns and vaults, brick and cement block infill, with plastered and painted walls and ceilings.
