Embassy of Egypt
New Delhi, India
The various buildings cover an overall square surface and are laid out around a central multi-level fountain, echoing the arrangement of Egyptian maidans (squares). All the structures are two-storeys and the staff villas, servants' quarter and the sub-station building lie in the south-eastern corner of the site. The consulate and diplomatic offices' building occupy the north-eastern part of the site and are linked at first floor level by a covered bridge. All the structures are built on 90cm high concrete stilts to enhance their protection against heavy monsoon rains.
