Écochard: Archaeological Sites in Syria in the 1930s

In his capacity as architect for the Service des Antiquités from 1932 to 1936, and consulting architect to the Syrian government from 1932 1939, Michel Écochard and his team worked on a series of restoration projects at important archaeological sites such as Qal’at Sim’an (Simeon Stylites), the Temple of Bel, Qal’at Jabbar, Palmyra and locations along the Euphrates.
