This collection contains the contents of a special course on architecture that shapes our thinking and practice, Learning from the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, conducted by The Bengal Institute, with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
In September 2018, the Bengal Institute forArchitecture, Landscapes and Settlements, located in Dhaka, organized a course for 41
senior undergraduate students and young professionals on behalf of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture Education Programme. Entitled “Learning from the
Aga Khan Award for Architecture”, the course introduced participants to the
principles of the Award and its projects. It also highlighted Award-winning
projects in Bangladesh, articulating them as emblems for a broader, universal
conceptualization by which other projects and foci of the Award could be better
understood. The projects were analysed by invited architects or clients/leaders
of the winning work.
