Description
Forty-four drawings by Ali Tayar for Waterloo Brasserie, a restaurant located at 145 Charles St. in New York City's West Village. Waterloo served Belgian-inspired cuisine in a modernist interior that was distinguished by Tayar's use of prefabricated birch plywood panels. The facade subtly referenced the building's origins as an automotive garage by incorporating a series of tall, single-hung windows and doors that could be opened to extend the restaurant onto the sidewalk in the summer months. Waterloo's architectural elements were profiled in the October, 1997 issue of Interior Design Magazine and the restaurant was reviewed by the New York Times and New York Magazine in 1997.
