Salman Beg has been the chief executive officer of the Aga Khan Cultural Service-Pakistan (an affiliate of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture) since October 1998. He has a multifaceted background and a diverse education, which includes almost a quarter century in the army. He holds masters degrees from the United States Army Command and General Staff College Fort Leavenworth, and Lahore University of Management Sciences. He belongs to a well-known Hunza family and is committed to pursuing community-based development in the Northern Areas that allows for maintaining a fine balance
between modernity and the environment. He is closely associated with AKCS-P's current efforts at using
culture as a catalyst for development as well as integrating different development sectors with a view to stimulating the local economy.
