Professional training
As professional training is the part of academics for every architecture student, what are the main guidelines for deciding where to go? What kind of work should be prefered during training?

hi divya.
the first question comin in my mindis.. whther is it a summer training (of 6 weeks) or a full sem training..
if its summer training thn .. u can go for experiments.. for thats the perfect time to try out abt a thin for which u are not very sure.. but still have a lil aspiration for it..and in this case of summer training.. u can also look for not that "big" office..because rit now its yur portfolio that needs to be made and work is but the best part of any portfolio..and in big offices u may not be accorded any important work but would have to satiate yurself with just inking..erasing etc etc..
however if u are goin for the 6 months trainin..thn its a serious thing..
stipend may be an important criteria.. and becasue thatsmostly in the last year. so u dont have to worry much abt yur portfolio..and in that case a big office would not just gibe ua glance into the management and intricacies of office management and brand building.. but can also be yur "USP for future growth both in a firm or individually..
thats all form my side..
best wishes

hi vidhu!
thanks a lot for ur suggestion.thats true !i must give the full information regarding this!
first of all i must tell u that its a full semester training but ........its not in the final year rather its in the fourth year , 1st sem.
so....now its a problem...i think you are right in saying that i shud search a place where ill be learning more rather than to a big firm where ill be just doing the secondary works.but than again...will it be helpful for my future growth??
if u can help me in giving the names of such firms than it will be a great help to me!

hi divya
i am in 4th year rit now.and we at iit roorkee have two sets of training one the summer one and thn in the final sem which is a full sem of training..
now it seems that perhaps ur college does not has the provision of summer training..so if thats the case.. thn u must look fo a mid size firm where apart from having a "name" u will also get good experience and exposure..
are u from delhi?
write more..
best wishes

hi vidhu!
nice to see you again!im doing my b.arch from G.C.A., lucknow...and right now im in the 3rd yr,2nd sem.so...its the next sem which gonna decide my training .
...joining a mid size firm would surely be the right decision and i have alredy searched a lot regarding this.but u know...about these firms...its just the play of luck because u dnt know which one to choose or which will be the beneficial one where im gonna learn and experience more, until and unless somebody related to these firms himself suggests the name!gosssssssssh!its a long confusion!
so ...thats what the story is!
thanks for the reply!
do reply to this too!
n...best wishes to u too!

hi divya
gr8 to know u are from lko.. as i myself belong to lko..
well why dont u try for ashok kumar's firm in lko.. as far as i knw they have gr8 buisseness.. or else there are few good firms in delhi.. like i did my summer training in Ashok bLall' s office.. in mumbai..try for "somayya and kallapa"
in bangalore theres one firm called total environment"
so theres a lot many firms.. i am suggesting thm..as they are good names as well as they pay good too..
and do prepare yur portfolio in advance..
