Miscellaneous

Mixed use
Hi,
I have chosen a Vertical Mixed use Building project in Noida, NCR. So I want to have everyone's views regarding the feasibility. What I think such projects are the demand of future due to the increasing problem of traffic, movement, waste of time, loss of public social life etc.

Mixed use
Nipun, I assume this building project is on an urban site and therefore mixed use is probably optimum, because at ground level there is lots of passing traffic, so shops at ground level, workshops at basement level, offices above the shops and flats above everything.

The only "fly in the ointment" is that flats for people to live in should not be too far from the ground, because otherwise the children are not able to be supervised and become feral, anti-social and even criminal.

Nipun, I sometimes wonder if it is better not to tell the truth, because truth (like reality) is untidy and awkward and therefore does not fit into nice neat pigeon-holes.

Hi,
Could someone give me some guidelines or any book which could help me in understanding and designing a mixed use building.
Thank you

Vidya, try "Urban Design" books which were published in the the 1930s and then move on. I find that the earlier a book is published the easier it is to read because the author does not assume you know lost of abbreviations and acronyms (phrases abbreviated to single letters, ie WIP = work in progress).

Vidya, an afterthought from the topic "English for Architecture". You could try the book "Architects Data" by Neufert. The orginal is in German, but I believe there are English editions.
