What is "energy efficient urbanism"?
Meera, I think you need to look at this in the wider context by posing the opposite ie "energy deficient ruralism" and comparing the two.
Because given that urban areas are concentrations of people, then the delivery and exchange of products and services is much more assured and therefore "efficient" because with mass markets, then the cost (not the retail price) per item is much lower.
Whereas, the opposite applies to rural areas, because the longer supply lines and much reduced markets means that transport costs will eventually make supply and delivery uneconomic. Therefore, remote rural areas will always get the short straw. :(
