Thanks a lot Mr. Allan Allen for your wonderful suggestion, i have already started searching with Google engine for available literature on the topic. Nevertheless u can always lean your voice to this research, once there is any information @ your disposal.

Okufu, I would say that `thermal comfort and thermal performance of housing in Nigeria` is neither a simple nor straightforward matter, given that insects such as Mosquitos, Tsetse flies and Termites can and do cause serious problems, because the air-flow needed to reduce humidity in buildings means the need for fly-screens which reduce air-flow and the stability and sustainability of buildings are affected by termites eating through wooden structures.

You could look into the older publications of Koenigsberger on thermal confort. May be you manage to get his book on climatic design, which is still available in India. It decribes the elements, that have influence. Today there are building simulation programms, which you could use.
Normally, there is a lot of experience in tradtional housing also with regard to climatic comfort and they more or less did the best with the availble means at that time. I wrote a chapter on this in the "Non Western Technology ecyclopedia", this book is only in the internet and access is rather expensive, even I do not have it any longer, but an Unversity library should have access.
I think, your topic is most important with regad to the energy problem. I wrote something simple on in the EU Courier in the year 2000.

Okofu, The name Konigsberger rings a bell, so I think Norbert is referring one of two books "Design Primer for Hot Climates" (by Konya, Pub AP) or "Manual of Tropical Housing and Building, #1 (multiple authors, Pub Longman)".

Note: I have both books and in my catalogue, they are grouped with with "Architecture for The Poor" and "Natural Energy and Vernacular Architecture" both by Hassan Fathy and both Published by UCP (University of Chicago Press).
