Who can tell me something about energy efficiency indexes?
I am having trouble assessing building energy efficiency indexes, as I know , there are following kinds of ways or indexes:

1.building envelope
OTTV(Overall Thermal Transfer Value),
PAL(Perimeter Annual Load),
U-Value

2.facility or equipment
CEC/AC(Co-efficient of energy consumption for air conditioning )
EER(or SEER)
COP

My question is what are the advantages and disadvantages of each index? Especially "PAL" index? It seems difficult to find some useful information about this index in English or Chinese, is it only used in Japan? Wish you can give me some ideas :-)

There is another index called PMV (predicted meen vote) which is accepted by the ISO. There is a formula for PMV and it gives comfort levels of a space.
Or you could find more information in the PLEA (Passive & Low Energy Architecture)web site. I could not remember the URL, but try it out.

Good Luck ...!

thank you for ur advice!PMV (predicted meen vote)is a comfort index,to some extent objective index, my trouble lies in Energy Efficiency Index for building,i think it's should be a subjective index.
