In this globalised world, I am concerned about the growth of international practices that are working in islamic societies. My question is the following: Do these architecture or planning companies respect traditions of the countries they work, or just imposing Western ideas there?
Preserving Islamic Tradition
Juanjo, I would say there is a natural and normal tendency for most humans to use thought processes which they are familiar with and so instinctively there is a bias towards using what they are familiar with even when they need to design for other cultures.
Therefore, to limit the damage of such unthinking behaviour, it is best to choose an international practice which either has or uses architects from the same culture, so that the culture and traditions are respected.
