Architectural Education

study on contemporary architecture inspired by tradition
we are doing a project on contemporary architecture inspired by tradition. we are looking at projects built in the last 30 years. the challenge is to analyse a project which pays due regard to its contextual traditions during the era of rampant globalization in India

Tamil Nadu, being at the peninsular tip of India was never plundered by other civilizations unlike its counterparts in the north. this isolation led to an architecture with innate contextual references but not influenced by several stylistic movements. thus bringing an authentic, if stagnant, style to the present.

Any suggestions of projects within the region, where architects have interpreted these traditions would be helpful.

Anjali, perhaps you could check for Ethnological and Ethnographical studies done upon Tamil Nadu.
