bus rapid transit system...
hi all,
during my training as a student of final year architecture i worked upon the project brts which is proposed in pune (pimpri chinchwad. in this period i learnt that BRTS os step put forward to promote public transport and reduce the use of private vehicles which in turn would indirectly help reduce the pollution and hence the global warming. But on the contrary i had opposing reactions for quite a many people rather residents of the city. thanx to the earlier failed brts poject executed in swargate.I have also looked upon such systems coming up through out the world and also in Ahmedabad in India, which is functioning very well and much to the benefit of the people.
please do give me your inputs. i have to prepare a report for the same.
Thank you,
Pranita Randive

The most important experiments in BRT are in south America;Curitiba in Brazil and Bogota in Colombia. Both are reportedly doing well and efficient.
The one in Delhi is a big disaster;largely due to the fact that the lanes are right in the centre of the road and there is no safe way of crossing the street for passengers.
The bus stops are at the traffic lights and supposed to be synchronised with the signals . However Delhi's macho car owners have other ideas and drive in the bus lanes whenever they feel like.
