Dissertation Help Please
I am currently doing my final year dissertation on the design styles of mosques in the UK. I am looking at the traditional styles of mosques and looking at their uses in the UK. I am also looking at any possible building defects relating to certain features such as domes, mihrabs, wudhu areas etc. Does anybody know of such a study being carried out in the past on defects? or even on the design styles of UK mosques?

Hasan, You need to do a survey of all of the mosques in the UK. I imagine some are existing buildings converted for use as mosques / camis and some are purpose built mosques.

I have started by looking at the traditional styles. I am looking at commenting on the suitability of some of the features in the UK. e.g. courtyards can be a problem due to weather, building regs etc.
I think I will have to take a sample of a few mosques as looking at all mosques in the UK would take many months. Also, I have to do it in around 8000 words

Hasan, Your focusing upon several examples to show a representative picture of mosques in the UK is a good idea, because with concrete examples you have a base for an overview of the more general issues (climate, culture, environment) which determine mosque design in the UK, such as open courtyards in (frequent) wet weather.
