Islamic Architecture

modern mosque and calligraphy
I am doing my B. degree project. A mosque/islamic center in Estonia. As I am a non-muslim, there is a lot of things to search and read. I am interested in the modern mosques designed. some good examples to study?
i'm also quite fascinated with islamic calligraphy and patterns. is there any good literature about the styles of islamic calligraphy?
any comments and suggestions are welcome
Thanks a lot!

modern mosque and calligraphy
Hi
when i was studying the "modern" mosque i read this book called deconstructing the american mosque. it was an amazing book if you can get hold of it will be invaluable in understanding the modern mosque in its context.
Also you should look at Keith Critchlow he has some great theories.
i hope this helps

hi
very interesting topic,
if you want to study modern mosques, first u should start from the examples in the history, to understand the principles behind its form and spaces.
i hope u will really enjoy, as the beauty of architecture really comes from simplicity.
all the best
