My idia about tha green toilet

1)well ventilated with natural ventilation.

In a living plase why we are giving green for a toilet,Cant we give it to Living or a bed room.Beacase we dont spend much time in a toilet.

green toilet for me is u bring a nature into the toilet. it is also give another meaning there is sustainability about the toilet.for example the material that u used,..the cost effecting, natural ventilation for the toilet and etc.for me, if we design a green building,..no matter what specific place that we make, we should make it green for overall. not only for bedroom, living room etc.at the end, u will have a nice, beautifully design that perfectly green.

Achmed, A "green toilet" would be a dry toilet using soil instead water.

it's really new to me...hmm...let's just say a green toilet can not only save water or energy but can also use marsh gas to create new energy and satisfy the toilet(including flush or electric etc...) or even other places.
wow~seems not bad huh?

Jill, Some years ago I read a short article about how Chinese collective farms gathered Methane gas from animal waste. I assume the principle would be the same for human waste.

On the other hand, is this "Green"?

Bio gas plants are used now a days in sri lanka a lot. I'm not sure as to whether this is green or not but if it produces energy and waste is re used in the same process it must be a green practice. interestingly at the moment I'm involved in a project where they are using a bio-gas plant! :)

well...thats right, Frank, your words reminds me of chinese methane using, there are actually lots of villages using methane to cook and drive light in China, a family with a methane pond and 4 pigs can totally sustain itself. :)
Tilanka, i agree with you about the "green" thing, 0energy consume is green. tell us more about your project

its a university complex..im doing the hostel part atm. all the sewage goes to a bio gas plant, and also were having a rainwater harvesting mechanism as well, the structure of the buildings are of steel so in 20 yrs time if you dont want the building u just de assemble it and use the steel, that also sustainable. and were using a special construction system for external walls which is LEED certified and for internal walls a partition board made out of straw [LEED certified]is used....its good to know that at least we are making an attempt isnt it?
