Hello Faiza / Dr. Wilhelm,

It wasn't long ago that the devastating earthquake in Pakistan was in the news agencies worldwide. Now, I hear rumors that plans are underway to build a two-hundred storey tower in Kashmir. Is there any truth to this?
If so, I find this quite amazing... even encouraging.

I don't know anything about this. But any highrise building can be designed earthquake safe. We have done so for many in Frankfurt.

Supposing the rumor is true, what I find amazing is its being opposite to the aversion of tall structures, which understandably happens after an earthquake. People just want to stay clear of them. Now, here's one who wants to put up 200 storeys. That's beyond saying "bring 'em on!".

Dear faiza,

NESPAK has done sufficient work on it. meanwhile Aga Khan Housing Board, which has been working in Northern Areas for last many years has contributed a lot. The material published by AKHB is quite informative givin that you manange to get it.
