McMansion vs. Global Warming; 21th Century Dilemma?
Does size matter? How much energy we are ready to consume?

Mansion vs. Cottage? City/Neighborhood/Community vs. Urban Sprawl?

Live big? Live small? Live near? Live far?

One should learn about the green concept in architecture to justify this dilemma.

Kenneth, This is not a question of how much energy is used, but whether or not it is a renewable energy source.

If the currently available but irreplacable fossil fuels are all used up by people today. Then future generations will have to both conserve energy and use other sources of energy.

Todays` excessive consumption simply for mindless "one size fits all", "peer-pressure" fashion and not reasonable use, will destroy humanity. :(((

I am sure you have heard of the three Rs " REDUCE>REUSE>RECYCLE" in decreasing order for efficiency. For energy too the order is similar" REDUCE>REUSE>RENEWABLE". We suffer from technological and efficiency related challenges in the implemetation of renewable energy systems. One big step would definitely be reduction in demand.

Also careful consideration needs to given to the selection of the renewable energy technology. Like some types of photovoltaic panels would never even recover the energy that goes into their production.

a diversion:
The disorder(entropy) of the Universe either remains constant or increases.

The world is destined to end.
We can only try delay it :)
