Photovoltaic and architectural form
The developement of photovoltaic technologies gives a new opportunity in form definition. Especially in southern countries, the design of new buildings with integrated PV panels is an important sustainable innovation, but can also give a new image to buildings. Is this a big change in built architectural form ?

Photovoltaic and architectural form
Alex, I think this could be a major development in architectural expression. However, at this time, I have yet to see examples of this. Most new technologies get adapted to old methods of construction and expression, before they develop their own aesthetic. The work of Buckminister Fuller was the exception.

Alex, check out the work of a firm named Jersey Devil in America. The designs are quite striking and take into account solar panels and other eco-friendly solutions.

Shiraz, glad that you recognize PV as an innovative topic within architectural form. The main point is that PV is a restraint for orientation of surfaces in relation to sun course, and this is "local", absolutely unique. This is a new concept for modern architecture, even though a traditional concept in most historical architecture. Good design indeed at http://www.jerseydevildesignbuild.com/index.htm thanks
