Menara Bank Islam
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The building portrays contemporary Islamic architecture as an income generating development built on ‘waqf’ land. The main entrance to the 34-storey building faces the ‘qibla’. Office floor plates are planned around a central core. Escalators carry visitors into the building from the double height entrance hall. The building is easily identified by interlocking diagonal metal framing on the main curved facade and unique play of contemporary Islamic motifs. Sun shading is applied to other elevations. The reinforced concrete building is clad with a curtain walling system. Sustainable and natural interior finishes are used including polished stone, timber and metal.
