Hassan Abad Square - Phase II
Tehrān, Iran
The square is located at a major intersection with two metro stations located on its north and west side. Construction of a subway had removed traffic from the square. The project addressed vehicular access to commercial buildings and public transport, with special focus on pedestrian access. The radial design hard landscaping proposal is in harmony with the historic walls lining the square. Traffic is allowed through the centre with pedestrian areas to both sides. Granite setts, and ‘crystal stone’ are dry laid. Matching street furniture and finishes bring a spatial quality to the square enhanced by the reorganisation and new traffic management.
