Lamongan Sea Leisure Theme Park
Lamongan, Indonesia
Subject to drought and flooding, Lamongan was known as an under-developed region, but this project aims to promote tourism by transforming an underused beach into a 15-acre theme park. There are over 50 attractions, many exploring local themes such as the coast or the history of Islam in Java and all intended to be affordable and appealing to a broad range of age groups. The project has exploited the natural features of its site: for example, a subterranean cave has been turned into an insectarium. Providing space for locals to sell souvenirs and refreshments, the park aims to boost the local economy.
