Weekend House
Savar, Bangladesh
Conceived to offer relief from the reality of city life, this house comprises a fluid sequence of spaces that are visually linked with varying degrees of privacy. The site is planned on a grid following minimalist principles. A cubic entrance pavilion draws visitors to the house, which opens to living space over two levels with a bedroom mezzanine above. A large terrace over the pool links the house to an open pavilion for contemplation. Materials were locally sourced and crafted and the energy responsive design maximises natural light and ventilation and minimises humidity. The garden creates a microclimate as well as providing seasonal food and attracting fauna, creating a self-sustainable eco-system.
