Yahsibey Houses
Izmir, Türkiye
Following the construction of a private stone house for Emre Senan, a well-known graphic designer, the architect Nevzat Sayin has in the last decade designed several more houses using local stone in the small village of Yahsibey adjacent to the town of Dikili near Izmir. The stone facades are in harmony with the general style of the village, and yet are modern interpretations of the village's traditional building typologies. Emre Senan's houses have changed the aesthetic structure of the village and at the same time given new life to a traditional building method.
