Shopping/Education Centre
Trabzon, Türkiye
Think of a simple cube and try to transform it into a sphere.' This thought experiment formed the basis for a project that plays on notions of duality: two different shapes with the same mass, and two different functions - mini shopping mall and education centre. Inspired by the legendary figure of Sahmeran (the product of a union between a young man and a snake in the shape of a beautiful woman), it attempts a fusing of opposites. The structure is of reinforced concrete and steel, while the facades are made up of composite panels, glass, ceramic and steel.
